Back Subject:  what's the difference between CV and Resume?
Comment
  • They are always many way to say something. It's not a big deal, why it bother you héhé ?

  • that's funny

  • they are definitely the same thing

  • it is the same in two different languages. CV is the short form for  curriculum vitae from the latin language. Maybe some people think it sounds more impressive to use the latin language even most people dont know what CV means hehe

  • English people are used to using CV, while resume is popular for American people. Just my personal thought.

  • Same thing. I have the asked the same questions to my Boss also. It is interesting. Hehe

  • Hi Kemma,

Sometimes the words 'resume' and 'CV' are used to mean the same thing, particularly in the US.

However, there is a subtle difference in Europe.

Resume is used to describe the history of your professional life, that is your educational years followed by your job history.

CV or Curriculum Vitae (Latin words meaning "Story of Life") usually includes the information in a resume, but also includes your personal history, such as hobbies, interests, personal skills, and some basics about your life beyond work. It is meant to illustrate your total person rather than just your job history.

    Hope this helps!

    Best wishes all!

    Jim
